For me, there is nothing more exhilarating than finding something well designed. I love to recognise the thought, effort and intentions that have gone into a clever piece of work, whether it's public space with good signage, a kitchen with a pull out ironing board, or a gorgeous set of shapely cutlery that sits so balanced in your hand.
On the flip side of this, I get a little bit offended with badly designed things... like an awkward toilet door that squashes you on the way to closing, wallpaper that's not lined up, or cutlery with round handles that roll around in your hand as you're trying to eat.
To me, what is well designed, is purposeful, with the perfect ratio of function to beauty.
I am learning more every day about how to manipulate materials, space, light and emotion for the glory of great design.
I am excited to share what I find, here.
