Designing duo Beatrice and Jake make sustainable wooden accessories for the home. Their work is about quality materials and simplicity. They have started out making pieces that they themselves like, and are hoping that other people will as well. A lot of love and time goes into each design and only a few pieces really make the final cut. Beatrice says "It’s a small but thoughtful collection, but it is slowly growing."
The first piece to emerge was the Birgit key ring, and this remains Beatrice's favourite. It is named after her Farmor (Grandmother in Swedish); "She is the rock star of my life and I look up to her so much."
Beatrice had been looking for a key ring for a long time, and couldn't find anything that looked like what she was looking for. So she started to sketch some ideas resembling the shape of a water drop. Jake took them, went out to the shed and started to create this shape. The satisfaction of seeing her ideas become tangible really encouraged the couple to create more, and so now their label is here just a few months later. Inspired by nature and the simplicity of scandinavian design, the pair believe in letting the material speak for itself.
Beatrice and Jake compliment each other well with their creative skills. Growing up in Sweden, Beatrice has been making since she can remember, woodwork and sewing, she is a multi skilled lady! Then moving to Australia and meeting Jake, who is also very skilled with the tools, they have undertaken many projects together, including furniture design and renovations.
Seeing the importation of products without much thought about their origins, has inspired them to make a change in the retail industry. Their desire is to know exactly where their materials are sourced from, believing strongly in sustainability in all aspects of consumption.
